Discovered Attack Chess Puzzles
A discovered attack happens when you move one piece out of the way, revealing an attack from a piece behind it that was blocked the whole time. Because two pieces are involved, the moving piece is often free to make a threat of its own — capture something, deliver check, or fork — while the newly unmasked piece attacks completely separately.
Objective
Moving one of your own pieces out of the way could unleash a hidden attack from the piece behind it.
Featured Puzzle

Understanding Discovered Attacks
To find one, look for your own long-range piece (rook, bishop, or queen) that's currently blocked by one of your own pieces, and see what happens to the enemy king or pieces once that blocker moves. The best discovered attacks combine the blocker's own move with the hidden attack for a double threat the opponent can't answer.
